Australia Street in Newtown, “The Bakery”, originally built in 1909, is nestled between local coffee and beer stops, antiques sellers, pizzaiolo and candlemaker. The client then partnered with Joey and Anna-Carin, and inspected multiple properties all with an industrial aesthetic but none quite right. Until they came across the Australia Street address, an amalgamation of a Victorian terrace and warehouse annex, with a central and surprisingly quiet garden, resembling the footprint of a Moroccan Riad.
